Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager of Operations & Public Relations to join our team in Guinea-Bissau. This position will play a pivotal role in overseeing day-to-day operations while managing and enhancing the public image of our organization. The ideal candidate will combine a strong operations background with excellent communication skills and an understanding of the local agricultural landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
- Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of the Guinea-Bissau office, ensuring seamless execution of key initiatives, including agricultural projects and supply chain management.
- Collaborate with local farmers, suppliers, and stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring adherence to targets and delivering high-quality results.
- Implement and optimize operational processes and systems to improve productivity and sustainability in agriculture, particularly in the rice, cashew, and mango value chains.
- Collaborate with the government, NGOs, farming associations, and industry advisors to develop and implement strategic plans, ensuring their effective execution within Guinea-Bissau’s agricultural operations.
Public Relations & Communication:
- Develop and execute effective public relations strategies to enhance the company’s image in Guinea-Bissau, focusing on agriculture, sustainability, and community engagement.
- Manage relationships with local media, government bodies, stakeholders, and other key external parties.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external communications, including press releases, media inquiries, and interviews.
- Organize and manage public events, including community outreach initiatives, agricultural exhibitions, and product launches, to strengthen the company’s presence in the region.
- Craft engaging content for internal and external communications, including newsletters, social media, and websites, to share company achievements and updates.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor the local operations and PR team, ensuring alignment with company goals and values.
- Provide regular performance feedback, training, and development to staff.
Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track and analyze operational performance, identify challenges, and recommend improvements.
- Prepare and present weekly reports to the global corporate office on operational progress, public relations initiatives, and project outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Public Relations, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management, public relations, or a related field, ideally in the agricultural sector.
- Strong understanding of Guinea-Bissau’s agricultural landscape and operational challenges in the region.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and external relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese & English.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the agribusiness sector and digital transformation..
- Familiarity with digital tools and systems for supply chain management, track-and-trace technologies, and data-driven decision-making.
- Initiating and promoting digital payment solutions.
- Establishing partnerships with educational institutions in Guinea-Bissau for digital education, internships, and related initiatives.
- Knowledge of local culture, community engagement practices, and media relations in Guinea-Bissau.
